The Water Mechanic offers solutions for the problems you have with your water.
Based on our water analysis and consultation with the water consumers, we recommend the appropriate methods of treatment, disinfection, and /or purification. Once you have chosen The Water Mechanic to solve your water problems, we will schedule the installation of your new water system. After the initial installation and set-up, we make at least two follow-up visits in the next few weeks to re-test your water, verify the system operation, and make any fine tuning adjustments necessary. That's not all you'll see of us though. All water treatment equipment requires routine maintenance and service. Some of the maintenance can be done by the client if he chooses. Other maintenance and service is best performed by a service technician. We explain the options and let you decide how the maintenance and service will be handled. More about maintenance and service on the Services web page.
Detailed below are the different categories of systems and many of the common systems we employ. You can view some of these in our Picture Gallery.
Residential Applications
Whole House Water Treatment Applications or Point of Entry Systems
These systems are recommended in the following cases:
When unacceptable levels of hardness and/or iron are present.
When pH level is aggressive or harmful to the plumbing system.
When water contains odor causing gases and/or organics.
When bacterial contamination cannot be corrected at the water source or well.
When water contains unacceptable levels of suspended particles.
When water of a specific quality is required for commercial or industrial purposes and water quality must be improved prior to the point of use.
If any of the above conditions exist in a water supply, all the water should be treated, conditioned, and /or disinfected.
One size or system does not fit all ! ! ! !Water system design and application varies even more than does water quality. As a result of this we design the water system which is appropriate for your particular application and use. We stock the components necessary to build and install over 90 % of the applications we encounter. For those we don't stock, delivery is quick and reliable.
The Water Mechanic stocks the following whole house or point-of-entry water treatment systems:
Water Softeners
Water softeners remove the hardness elements (calcium, magnesium, iron, and manganese) from water using the process of ion exchange.

Fleck 5600 Calendar Clock or Demand Initiated Control Valve and brass by-pass valve
Structural Thermowound Pressure Tank
Two cubic feet Ionac C-249 Cation Exchange (water softening) resin, "The Industry Standard"
Polyethylene brine tank with safety brine valve
400# Solar Salt and 5# Pro Softener Mate or 5# Pro Rust Out (depending on iron content of incoming water)
Acid Neutralizers
Acid Neutralizers raise the pH of acidic water.
Fleck 5600 One and One -Half Cubic Foot Fully Automatic Acid Neutralizer with:
Fleck 5600 Backwashing Calendar Clock Control Valve and brass by-pass valve
Structural Thermowound Pressure Tank
One and one-half cubic feet neutralizing media ( calcite and corosex)
Granular Activated Carbon Primary Filtration Systems
Granular Activated Carbon systems are used to pre-filter water before water softeners, for removal of odor causing gases and organics, and for the removal of precipitated iron (more commonly called rust). This system can also be utilized for the dechlorination of chlorinated water. We utilize both granular activated carbon and a catalytic granular activated carbon known as Centaur depending on the water conditions and filtration application.
Fleck 5600 One Cubic Foot Fully Automatic Backwashing Filter System with:
Fleck 5600 Backwashing Calendar Clock Control Valve with brass by-pass
Structural Thermowound Pressure Tank
One cubic foot granular activated carbon filtration media
Fleck 5600 One and one-half Cubic Foot Fully Automatic Backwashing Filter System with:
Fleck 5600 Backwashing Calendar Clock Control Valve with brass by-pass
Structural Thermowound Pressure Tank
One and one-half cubic feet granular activated carbon filtration media
Fleck 5000 Two Cubic Feet Fully Automatic Backwashing Filter System with:
Fleck 5000 Backwashing Calendar Clock Control Valve with brass by-pass valve
Structural Thermowound Pressure Tank
Two cubic feet granular activated carbon filtration media
Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems
Ultraviolet Disinfection systems are used to render microorganisms found in some water sources harmless. The ultraviolet light interferes with the DNA and RNA of the organisms. Ultraviolet disinfection adds nothing to the water as is the case with most other disinfection processes.
Ideal Horizons Ultraviolet Water Treatment Systems Model SVE-7
with 5 micron pre-filter installed
7 gallons per minute maximum flow rate
Pura Ultraviolet Water Disinfection Systems
Pura manufactures ultraviolet systems with flow rates from 1 to 60 gallons per minute. Because disinfection applications require specific flow capacities for effective treatment, we do not attempt to stock all models. We will special order the exact unit which fits each individual application.
Residential Drinking Water and Point of Use Systems
Hydrotech Reverse Osmosis Purification System Model F-HTF-9-2 with stainless steel faucet and Faucet Smartap Water Quality Monitor (also used in commercial applications)
Oasis Filtration Cooler (also used in commercial applications)
Cook 'n' Cold -- Provides room temperature and chilled water with no bottles to change.
Hot, Cook 'n' Cold -- In addition to the room temperature and chilled water that the Cook 'n' Cold provides this unit also provides piping hot water with child safe taps
Commercial / Industrial Applications
Commercial and Industrial applications require equipment which is generally larger and built to withstand the more challenging environments. These applications range from point of entry systems which treat all the water coming into the business, to point of use systems which treat only a small fraction of the water which is used for a specific industrial application (such as steam production) or a system to treat just the drinking water. The Water Mechanic can install the water treatment system for any commercial and industrial purpose. We also provide scheduled maintenance service for these systems. The systems described below are a few examples of equipment designed for commercial and industrial applications with links to our Picture Gallery - Commercial web page.
