The residential systems that The Water Mechanic installs are designed from individual components and sub-assemblies combined to provide the corrections and conditioning for your specific needs. Our Residential Picture Gallery includes a few of the residential systems that we have installed in our service area.

This residential treatment system is located in the garage of a large brick home near the York and Chester County line on Highway 72 South of Rock Hill, SC. The system is designed to provide this family of ten with refreshing, clear, softened water. The water first enters the Granular Activated Carbon tank where particles, sediment, and some precipitated hardness is removed and periodically backwashed down the drain. The Two Cubic Feet Water Softener then removes the remaining hardness and dissolved iron. The components utilized were:

Customized Residential System This Acid Neutralizer / Water Softener combination is located in the basement of a large brick home in the Fort Mill, SC area. The plumbing in this home is copper. The raw water has a pH of 6.2 and 4 grains/ gallon hardness. Upon moving in to their beautiful new home, the residents immediately found green stains in their fixtures caused by the corrosive effects of the low pH water on the copper and brass plumbing components. The water enters the Acid Neutralizer which raises the pH to about 7.2. Then the water passes through the Water Softener yielding completely soft and non-corrosive water. The components utilized were:

Customized Residential System This One Cubic Foot Water Softener is installed in the crawlspace of a ranch home between Rock Hill and Lake Wylie. The raw (untreated) water has a pH of 7.0 and a hardness level of 18 grains / gallon. This system provides refreshing soft water for this family of four. The cartridge filter in the upper right of the picture was previously installed by the building contractor. After installing the softener, we left the cartridge housing in place but removed and did not replace the cartridge. The Water Softener provides far more particle filtration than the cartridge capability. The Water Softener backwashes when it regenerates; flushing particles and hardness down the drain. The components utilized were:

Customized Residential System This combination treatment system is installed in the crawlspace of Mike and Sherrie Cockram's home. The Cockram's well water had an odor caused by organics in the water. Bacteriological analysis indicated absolutely no bacteria present. The raw water first passes through the One Cubic Foot Granular Activated Carbon Tank which is filled with Centaur Catalytic Carbon to remove particles and the unpleasant odor they had experienced. The water then passes through the Water Softener yielding completely soft and odor free water. The components utilized were:

Hydrotech® Reverse Osmosis System Pictured at left is the Hydrotech® reverse osmosis point of use drinking water system. This system combines sediment and carbon filtration along with reverse osmosis technology to provide effective water treatment. This unit features the patented Smartap® quality monitoring system which compares the water entering the unit with the water leaving the unit. The system provides the owner an indication of the reverse osmosis membrane performance each time the water is drawn, or manually at the touch of a button. The system offers an optional Faucet Smartap which illuminates each time water is drawn from the tap to indicate system performance. Typically, this unit is installed under the counter near the point of use. This system uses a reservoir (pictured behind the unit) to store filtered water ready for use. Many people do not prefer the taste of water conditioned with reverse osmosis because it lacks "substance" in this pure state. The Hydrotech® unit utilizes an additional pass through a carbon filter after reverse osmosis filtration which returns some of that "substance" or taste to the water. |
Oasis® Filtration Coolers The Oasis Filtration Coolers pictured at the right are simple, self contained point of use water filtration systems. These units can be used in the home or in commercial applications. Water can be drawn directly from the tap for drinking or cooking and we can make a product water connection to a water using appliance, i.e. automatic coffee brewer, icemaker, etc. We schedule service of these units based on factors such as historical water usage and raw water quality. The unit pictured at the right is the Hot, Cook, N Cold Model. It provides chilled water, water at room temperature for cooking, and piping hot water for instant coffee, cocoa, and soup. It also features the Tomlinson hot water tap to prevent the scalding of curious little fingers. The Cook N Cold unit features chilled and room temperature water. Both models are also available in countertop versions (see inset) which are a necessity when space is limited |

UV Water Treatment System Pictured at right is the Ideal Horizons UV water treatment system. This unit utilizes ultra violet lamps to kill bacteria present in the water. This unit can be utilized as a stand alone system for disinfection or in combination with other components or systems for water filtration and conditioning. This unit is constructed of 304 Stainless Steel with polished quartz sleeves to maximize the water's exposure to the UV. The UV lamp and sleeve remove from the top of the unit for easy maintenance. The system features LED indication of lamp operation and alarms if the lamp were to fail. This alarm feature includes electrical contacts to connect this unit to a remote alarm system or to a solenoid valve in the system to control the flow of water. Some units include a unique wiping system to remove film/deposits from the quartz sleeve as needed which eliminates the need for disassembly for cleaning.
