 Water Systems Services

When a consumer chooses The Water Mechanic to solve his/her water problems, we inform our client what regular maintenance and service will be required to keep the equipment working at peak performance. Some maintenance can be done by the client if chosen. Other maintenance and service is best performed by a service technician.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)      A Water Softener will require salt to be added to the salt tank on a regular basis. Depending on the hardness level and the iron content of the incoming water, we recommend salt additives which enable the softener to work more effectively, clean the resin beads, and lengthen the service life of the control valve parts and the softening resin. When a client purchases a residential water softener, we install the salt for the first year if the client purchases the salt from The Water Mechanic. After the first year, we will continue to install salt at a reasonable service fee.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)      An Acid Neutralizer must have the mineral bed replenished periodically or it will stop correcting the acidic pH condition.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)      An Activated Carbon Filtration System will need to have the carbon bed replaced periodically.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)      All Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems require that the UV bulb be changed yearly to ensure effective operation.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)      Hydrotech Reverse Osmosis Purification Systems and Oasis Filtration Coolers have filter and membrane elements which must be replaced periodically. The replacement time depends on the quality of the water being fed to the unit as well as the volume of water usage.

When our client chooses The Water Mechanic, we enter him into our service program. Each month the clients who are scheduled for service are published on our service list. If necessary, we contact the client to arrange a date and time for service. With most whole house applications we perform the service as agreed with our client and simply mail an invoice with a pre-addressed return envelope.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)    Submersible Pump Service and Repair

Many of our clients own their water sources or private wells. Eventually, even the best of equipment must be serviced. When you become a Water Mechanic client, we also provide the best pump service available.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)    Water Well Service and Repair

Normally, a private well which is constructed properly will provide a lifetime of service to its owners. Occasionally however, something happens in the ground geology or damage to the well structure occurs. We have Certified Well Drillers on staff with over twenty years combined experience in the water treatment and well businesses. Most structural well problems are reparable or treatable. We will explain to you the options available and let you decide which course to take. Only rarely the best solution is constructing a new well.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)    Water Well Inspection Service

If you are considering the purchase of a piece of real estate which has a well, a water well inspection can save you a big surprise and a great deal of expense. As Certified Well Drillers we are qualified to inspect a water well to determine if it was constructed properly and according to state standards. If there is an indication of bacterial contamination of the well, we will do a chlorination at the time of the inspection. We will specify what repairs should be made and if further inspection is needed such as a down hole video.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)    Water Well Chlorination Service

If a water well has been found to be contaminated with bacteria, chlorination is the next step in solving the problems. Testing the water to determine its basic characteristics is essential for a successful chlorination. When called to do a chlorination of a water well, we talk to the lab to determine the history of the well. On site we do a basic water analysis to determine hardness, pH, and iron content. Then we introduce the disinfectants into the well shaft in the correct amount and form to effectively disinfect the well. Occasionally, a second disinfection may be appropriate. If the bacterial analysis after the first chlorination shows significant improvement, but not completely satisfactory eradication, then a second disinfection is warranted. If results of the next bacterial analysis are less than satisfactory, this could indicate that surface or waste water is getting into the well shaft. Such conditions are usually reparable.

dropsml.gif (888 bytes)    Bacterialogical Testing Service

The Water Mechanic will collect water samples for microbiological analysis. On site we will do a basic water analysis (hardness, pH, Iron, and TDS) and collect a 100 ml sample in a sterile container. We will deliver the sample to a state certified laboratory for testing. The actual analysis takes 24 hours to incubate. The laboratory will provide a count for coliform and non-coliform bacteria. We will talk with the lab and provide interpretation of the results and recommend remedial action if any is appropriate. If you feel you do not need our complete service, you may call the laboratory and arrange for them to collect a sample. For clients in our service area, we recommend Catawba Laboratories, Inc. Their phone number is 803-324-3195.
